. . . 498 . . . 499 . . . 500!

Pop the champagne and throw some confetti — this is my 500th post!  Woo-hoo!  Who knew — well except pretty much everyone who knows me — that I had so much to say? I love chattering away to all of you — or even just to myself some days — about this big world we live in and this good life I’m living.

And in that spirit, check out some of these fun pictures from the day trip Glen and I took yesterday.  It was like an all day date and we had such fun.  Four ferry rides, time in Port Townsend, a lovely time on the 1909 MV Lotus, a delicious dinner on Whidbey Island and a fabulous sunset and full moon made for pretty much a perfect late summer day off.  We soaked in the sunshine and the good time!

Whew! What a week

I’ve been in a work whirlwind this week. Nothing like a short week — with the day off before the long weekend too — to put you into a “too-much-to-do-in-too-little-time” mode. Every day was long with a couple of 7 to 7 days thrown in for good measure. It really is all good – I like busy – but it was one of those rare weeks that bordered on being just about over whelming. But, tah-dah!, we made it to Friday and its smooth sailing ahead.

I used “smooth sailing” there with intent since my weekend includes time on a boat! This is likely to be one of those “don’t hate me moments” when you hear what we get to do. A designer that Glen works with who I haven’t yet had the chance to meet, lives in the very quaint seaport town of Port Townsend. And it turns out that Port Townsend this weekend is bustling with their Wooden Boat Festival and we get to go have dinner with her and some of her friends on the 1909 92 ft wooden boat called the Lotus. I promise to take my camera and bring back cool pictures from start to finish.

It does come with the trick however of getting there since it is at least one ferry ride away. From our place it is most directly two ferries away which is enjoyable but it’s tough to gauge summer time ferry traffic. I’m thinking we’ll just head out early and enjoy a little bit of window shopping and taking in the festivities.

We are being gifted with a wonderful late summer up here in the Northwest with some record-breaking temps. I love these kind of days this time of year because every night it cools off and the evenings make for the most perfect walks.

Check out this big bowl of blueberries I got off our backyard bush this week! Pretty cool huh? Mom and dad gave me a couple bushes a couple years ago. One bush didn’t make it but this one is fabulous. Makes me want to plant two or three more!  And the box packed full of veggies got dropped off by my sister and brother-in-law from their garden in eastern Washington.  Lucky me!

What do you think of my new living room pillow? I thought this was a fun find and, as you all know by now, I like to shake up the décor regularly with some “sophisticated whimsy.” : )

Glen’s off to band practice tonight and I’m off to Target for toothpaste and laundry soap. This weather though makes even the mundane a little bit special! Enjoy the gifts of this weekend everyone!
