I never watched her show much, I’m not even sure why since I could have tuned in in the evenings, but none-the-less, I’m a big Oprah fan. In fact, I wished I had tried harder to get tickets to be in the audience at a taping and, even more, I wish I had gotten to meet her as a guest on her show. Not sure what the topic could have possibly been about since the electric business is not all that sexy, but it would have been an experience to blog about, of that I am sure! And hey, my photo was — quickly – shown on her show last April as part of the Bake-Off promo so I did come kind of close. : )
Yesterday though was Oprah’s last show and it’s hard for me to imagine who could fill her shoes or how the network can possibly fill that hour of television time in anything close to what she achieved with it. I haven’t always agreed with her and, frankly, she is sometimes too direct for me on some things, but I think she gets what’s important in life and I love that. I like very much that she has used her influence to change thousands of lives in positive ways. I think she has been exceptionally generous and I totally think her life is one of the very best examples for all of us on how you can come from nothing – truly nothing – and rise to the top.
Fortunately for me, I am more an Oprah magazine junkie then I am a show follower and the magazine will be continuing. Thank goodness! We can’t have too many good things going away all at one time. : )
Meanwhile, a shout out to Oprah for changing minds and lives, including mine, and for being a positive influence on so many. Thank you O! Now I really should be getting a plan ready to pitch the “Julee Show – all fun all the time, check your troubles at the door.” Think big everyone! : D
