New Years Eve Mayham!

I’m pleased to report that we saw the old year clear to its end. And in fact, we welcomed a couple hours of the new year with enthusiasm before calling it done.  Tons of fun but done!  The band rocked the house; we celebrated an engagement; met the groom’s family; drank their very tasty, homemade kahlua that knocked me on my butt; wore super cute party hats; chomped on munchies and lit off sparklers at midnight.  All the best stuff!  Here’s a pictorial version of my description.  : )  Hello 2012!

Bye Bye to the Uh-Ohs!

It’s the end of 2009, the end of another year and the end of the first decade of the 21st Century — the Uh-Ohs. That’s the name some are giving them, aptly calling out what a rocky decade it really ended up. But it’s also, auspiciously, a decade ending with a blue moon and that is pretty darn fun! A blue moon is two full moons in one month and having one on New Years Eve seems to bode for something very promising for the new year. I like it.

Now generally, surprisingly really considering what a big fan of parties I am, I’m not ever all that excited about new years eve. I think I would like it more if it didn’t arrive just a week after Christmas — we’re just all kind of “partied” out still then (at least us married folks.) Now if New Years Eve came later in January when every thing is dark, and cold, and damp and the short days drag into each other and you’re looking for something, anything, to break up the monotony – well, count me in! Put me down for the party because I am sooooooo there. I’d love to get out my pretty, sparkly dress and put a party hat on. Woo Hoo!

But this year, despite many good things happening to us the last ten years, I think I am mostly ready to put this decade to bed and so tonight, for me, this new years eve represents promise.
I’m a little bit more excited about it than normal. It’s all about what’s coming. There’s good thoughts and hope and possibility in the wind and you add in the Blue Moon tonight and, well, that might just be a bit of real, true magic in the air. And can’t we all use a little bit of that!

So, here’s to a year of close friendships, good conversation, family moments of joy, abundance, prosperity, good health, low numbers on the scale : ), strong muscles, lots of energy, peace in the world and dreams come true for each and every one of us. We all deserve it all. And tonight, all of it is in the wind (at least here on Orcas Island :) ) and just waiting for us to claim it as our own in the new year. Happy New Year dear reader! You fill my heart and my life with everything that matters. Lucky me.
