Sweet time of Christmas
So special, so magic filled
How I celebrate
Happy first day of winter! It’s actually easy to be happy about it today with the joy of Christmas all around, the pretty holiday lights, carols in the air. Two weeks from now, when the dark and the wet and the cold are dragging on and on, well, not so much fun. This year though, I’m determined to put on a brighter face than usual about it. I didn’t used to dislike winter so much – I need to go back to that version of me and appreciate all the seasons.
According to the Mayan calendar this also marks the first day of the last year. But the last year of what? Earth? Human life? All life? All doubtful. I’m choosing to think that perhaps it marks the last day of the old ways of thinking. It’s my hope, we will, as a people, decide to leap into a whole new way of being and thinking as this old Mayan calendar winds down and that that will be the “rebirth” of mankind that the Mayan lore speaks of. If we could let go of everything but approaching each other from a point of love and respect for all life, well, what a wonderful new way of life that would be to move into. What an incredible world we would build. It’s time for the wars, the greed, the hate, the living driven by fear to fall away and for love to take its place as the base of all decisions. What a time that would make this to be alive!
In the meantime though, we can still each be our own little light for the people around us and today, during this season of peace and love, it’s a perfect day to practice. The world needs what we each bring to the table! And most especially if you happen to be close to any of our politicians or big business leaders – shine your light really, really bright at them! Somehow their own lights have come unplugged!! J
