I’m back home already but tonight is one more short post about my time in Portland before we move on.

I got an award!  The Lacy Peoples Award to be specific — awarded to an individual every year for their “excellence in leadership in marketing/communications in public power.”  Thumbs up for me huh? Honestly it was ridiculously kind of them to recognize me but I join a group of people I really respect in my industry and am honored to be listed as one of the recipients of this recognition.  Naturally, my work group came through with a big congratulations.  How I love em!

I ended up making some really nice new friends, singing karaoke(!) and bringing back some good ideas.  All in all, it was time well spent.

But ideas wasn’t the only thing I brought back!  Check out my Voodoo Donuts!  You gotta love these.  I’m not really a big time donut person but I am a big time “love-a-good-idea” person and Voodoo took the donut shop experience to a whole new level by “inventing” a voodoo donut with jelly in the middle and a pretzel to poke it with as their featured product. Boom. A new donut experience was born and while their donuts are varied and tasty what they mostly are is creative and clever.

So I’m back to the usual work tomorrow — where does the time go?  Gotta run now and cast some spells with my donut. (If your chest hurts or you feel a pain in your knees, I’m sure it was just a coincidence.  C’mon, I wouldn’t use my donut powers against one of my regular readers.  : ) )
