Tis the season

Woooo doggee, we made it to the weekend! It was a little bit touch and go there at times through this event-filled, kick-off-the-Christmas-season in style week and, okay, I packed it a little bit tight  .  .  .  and loved every minute of it!

Monday evening kicked off with an array of things around the house to put right and a last dinner with Toby and Brian before Brian headed back to the base and Toby headed back to Fresno.

Tuesday night it was “wining” with the girls! oh yea.  I joined three good friends for a girls night out catch-up over red wine and happy hour appetizers at our local wine bar. That is always so much fun.

Wednesday night was our monthly art class and this time we all got to make Chrismas wreaths.  And, let me just say modestly, they all turned out great! Jen, our instructor, had a huge selection of things for us to choose from for our wreaths and we went to town making our latest creations.  See for yourself, our excellent results.

Thursday night was book club — complete with cookie exchange — which was more fun than I can tell here so I’m going to leave details for the next post.

Today for lunch I managed to get out of the office for a change.  Diana, my good friend from work, and I met another good friend, Amy, at a local spot called “Karls Bakery” for lunch.  Now Karls has been where it is for pretty much my whole life and that was literally my first time there. Weird how that goes sometimes huh?  I’ve never been a big donut girl and it just never called out to me but anyone who’s anyone hits Karls regularly so it was time to get in on the action.  Oh and one of our very favorite people now works there — did I mention that?  Our lovely friend July is now one of their fine workers and we got to visit with her too. Besides a wonderful array of killer looking donuts, Karl’s has a nice selection of homemade soups to choose from and sandwiches on fresh baked bread.  I had a salad and cabbage patch soup and enjoyed each bite of both.

After work, Glen was game, so we headed out to our first round of a little bit of holiday shopping. The crowds were manageable and we were actually productive at knocking some things off our list.  tah-dah!

Tomorrow, more fun is ahead.  We are heading to a food drive first thing, then Trader Joes, and then The Muppets at the theater.  Can’t wait!  Big fan of those talking fur balls. Then that afternoon, Tea and I get to head over for a tour of another of our favorite kids, Brie and Kyle’s, new apartment and some cocktail hour fun at the local pub. Glen on the other hand is joining the band for a momentous occasion — their first time in a recording studio to cut a CD!

Whew, that should bring us to Sunday.  I’m staying home. Unless someone calls with something fun to do of course.  : )

Get on out there and put your jolly on!
