Savy, family and this and that

Don’t you love all these great party pictures? Proof positive that Nathan’s birthday party was full of fun – and full of Savanna.! She even got into Nate’s presents! That cute face is going to let her get away with pretty much anything in this doting family. And she’s crawling now which was extra fun! Plus, we got to have a couple of other darling little girls there too since good friends of Nate and Ambyr’s were visiting from Connecticut. They brought their darling little girls Mya and Layla with them and you can see Mya with Ambyr in one of the photos above.

I’ve forgotten to share a couple of other little tidbits with you as well. Silly things really. First, we got up really early both days this weekend (dang! And, of course, this morning, when I had to get up early for work, I really really wanted to sleep in!) and took Dandy out for an early morning walk. It was beautiful out and a perfect time to walk but the interesting part is that we heard and saw and watched a woodpecker! It was great! I’m sorry, sorry, sorry I didn’t have my camera. It was a pretty big bird and he was at the very top of a power pole pounding away. It was super loud and super cool to see and watch.

The second one is far less cool but still pretty interesting – unless your Glen. When we got back from our walk, we went up on the roof to check on our bees and stirred them up into a real buzz. In the hubbub, one managed to get into Glen’s headgear (I don’t know how they do that but it is a TOTAL freakout!) and stung him on the neck. Have you had a bee sting? They hurt like a mother! So we’re up on the roof hollering and hopping around, pretty much putting on a show for all the neighbors when we notice our next door neighbor is right below us returning a wheelbarrow. She should be good and scared of us now! Two days later though, Glen’s neck is still puffed up like a puffer fish and I keep bothering him to make sure he’s breathing and swallowing all right (he looks quite a bit like a walrus really and I’m trying not to laugh because it is doggone serious.) It seems like he may be becoming a bit allergic to the darn little buzzers.

Lastly, we had a great time at Alligator Soul last night. Ron’s band, The Curators, is really good and we got to catch up on all the news from up north. Like Annie their daughter has extended her stay in Spain and their son Marty got in to the UW this fall and Cathy is retiring from the school district in 22 days! A bunch of news from all of them. Besides the music and great company though, the best part for sure was the bread pudding drowned in bourbon sauce. Glen is still talking about it. I’m pretty sure I heard him quote one of the characters on the show Modern Family last night with this fun line  .  .  .

“ oh my sweet Lady Gaga this is wonderful!”  Like life.
