wasting away

It was an evening of Jimmy Buffett last night courtesy of Lora and Darryl — sis and bil — and boy did we have fun! Best. Concert. EVER!!!  Okay maybe that’s a slight exaggeration but only maybe. Honestly the guy is about everything I value most: being positive, adding to the world, following your own truth, staying lighthearted, not taking yourself to seriously but being serious about doing your best, and, of course, most of all, FUN!!!

Should I start by telling you we knew just about every single song so we could sing along? Or maybe I should mention we were in a suite!! With friends and family! Wearing bright colored clothes and leis and eating good food and drinking Land Shark beers (Buffett’s own product.)

If Jimmy Buffet comes anywhere near your town, you  need to line up for tickets and GO. Just go! You’ll feel better, happier, bursting out with smiles for several days afterwards and that is well worth any hassle and the price of admission.

This was his “Lounging by the Lagoon” tour and he started the concert by coming out in whimpy flip flops and immediately kicked them off doing the whole concert in bare feet. On stage with him were 12 others. There were three drum sets alone. Plus, adding a lot of fun to his set was a continuously running set of different videos behind them with the most entertaining being a giant aquarium full of “mermaids”. Two thirds the way through the whole band sat down in chairs at the front of the stage and it felt a little like an intimate “we’re-just-an-arena-full-of-good-friends hootenany.” After more than two hours, it ended with one long call back set and finally, at the very end, the last number was just Jimmy singing to all of us. Sincere and fabulous.

Okay, the one down side was, contrary to what Jimmy kept saying “Tuesday is a great start to the weekend :) ” Tuesday is actually four days away from my weekend and we got to bed after 1 am last night. A “Yikes!” but still worth it!

I liked every single thing about last night and in my next post I’ll share what else I got to celebrate last night. It was a really great night. THANK YOU Lori and Darryl! You bring joy and good things to the world every day.
