pumpkin season!

I am completely crazy about this pumpkin from my wonderful, long-time friend Amy! Don’t you just love it? It’s whimsical, light-hearted, clever, creative – it makes me happy just to look at it. I especially love the pipe cleaners.

Pumpkins are close to the top of the list for sure for the best parts of fall. I love everything pumpkin. I love decorating with them. I love their color. I love looking for them. I love how they are one of the few “holiday” items that move from one into another. Pumpkins go right from an early October debut right through Halloween if you don’t carve them and head to a Thanksgiving finale.

But c’mon, the very very best part of pumpkins is their flavor! If something pumpkin is on the menu, I’m game to try it. I know I’m not alone in this delight for pumpkin flavored everything. On my list though, I like pumpkin lattes, pumpkin soup, pumpkin bread and muffins, any pumpkin dessert really of course. :) This year though, I’ve found a couple of interesting recipes for pumpkin pasta and pumpkin almonds that I’m hip to try so I’ll try to get on that soon and bring you all a full report!

Meanwhile, Wednesday, seven of us girls are heading for our now annual pumpkin carving class at the nearby recreation center. Here’s a pic of mine from last year. I’ll post soon my grand bouquet from this year. So fun!

Go pumpkin crazy yourself! They’re a fall gift from Mother Nature.
