send for help!

Sound the alarm! Call for help! Dial 911! Our microwave died this weekend!

At our place this is a full-on, five alarm emergency since it is our regular, go-to appliance of choice. Basically, our oven is there for looks only. :) It’s our microwave that works the magic.

There we were heating up leftover Chinese food from earlier that week when all the sudden it sparked and than FLAMED out! Wild! We’ve had it twelve years but we both really like it. So we’re starting with the repairman and going from there. It turns out an over the oven microwave these days isn’t an “incidental” expense. I googled our model and it’s currently on sale for $900 at Home Depot. On sale!  As it happens, we have a busy October coming up so that puppy has got to get fixed or replaced fast so think good thoughts for me!

Meanwhile, we enjoyed our weekend thoroughly. The beautiful weather kept up and is just so pretty on our side of the state. (The other side is on fire right now and people are really struggling with the smoke. Very very tough conditions for everyone but most especially for anyone with breathing problems and, of course, the exhausted firefighters.) I got super lucky Saturday and scored Tea for the afternoon. She came over and helped me with a small craft project to get ready for book club.

We love doing craft projects really! We’re very good at making messes. :) Afterwards, we zipped off to the fabulously fun Mariners game. Then on Sunday we started our day early with breakfast out with the parents. The place was packed with motorcycle riders. Some kind of organized ride was clearly happening and I think they hit the bonanza on the weather for it.

From breakfast Glen and I hit:
Home Depot
Target
Trader Joes
Michaels Crafts
Costco
QFC

Whew! We had something from all of those places that we had to pick up so it made for a major run around morning. The best part though is when you get up and out early on a Sunday you are generally ahead of the crowds. Plus, we knew what we needed so we were in and out of each place quick.

At home, I worked on getting up some fall and Halloween decor! I know, I know, a little early there Julee but next weekend I’m out of town on a girls getaway so book club decor had to happen now.

I really could have used a three day weekend — honestly EVERY weekend, I could use a three day weekend — but we did manage to get a bunch done and Glen even caught an afternoon nap during which time Tea and I abused his trust by taking his picture. :)  He knows we’re not trustable!
