I’m here, I’m here! Got up early today just to be sure I got a chance to catch up.
So hello from Idaho! Couer d’Alene to be specific. I’ve never been here before but that’s my bad since the place is beautiful. Topped by the fact that they have been having unseasonably warm weather. I love this time of the year with the warm beautiful days — hot even over here — and cooler evenings. Now in my case I’m here for work so I’m not getting to fully take in the local wonders but getting to peek at it all now and again.
I think the last time I went to a work related conference was this time last year at this same conference in Portland. Loads of fun then even more fun this year since I’ve made some friends. I’m actually on the committee for putting this together but did very little. I joined a long-time group so I’m hoping to know more for next year and be able to help more as a result.
But there have been some fun percs to being on the committee. One of them is definitely getting to know such quality people (public power is packed with cool quality people) and we got taken to dinner last night as another!
Wow did we dine! We had drinks, dinner and dessert! I rolled out of there. My dinner was scallops and they were really tasty. Before that though, I had a whole bowl of fun with my good utility friend Chris who is me for Tacoma. We hit the hotel lounge and she ordered us — plus a friend of hers she works with — a drink that came in a fishbowl glass with three long straws! What a girlfriend good time that was.
The night before they kicked off the conference with a dinner boat ride around the lake. We had an Idaho baked potato bar which seemed appropriate to me! The boat was really nice — very big with enough room for everyone to be up on top early on and then down below later for dinner where it was warmer.
Oh and the conference has been good too. Some nice sessions with up-to-date information. I tend to be such a “homebody” (workbody?) when it comes to being away from work for very long which I always think is crazy once I get myself out of the door and get learning.
The hotel wifi seems to be too slow to upload my photos so I’ll add them in when I’m home tomorrow night. Meanwhile I just had to drop by — I get missin on y’all!
