Three random thoughts on TV shows:
· Bob Barker has been off The Price is Right since 2007! That seems impossible. I don’t see the show very often but I think of it fondly to be honest and I forget that he’s no longer the host. Then to realize he’s been gone now for five years – well, once again, another example that time zooooms by!
· How on earth does a show as horrible and ridiculous as Honey Boo Boo get on TV?!?! Honestly, what is happening? What is TLC network coming to? They started out as The Learning Channel. Now I’m thinking they are The Lack-of-good-taste Channel. This is the network that also features Hoarders, Strange Sex, Toddlers and Tiaras and 19 and Counting. I get that these are all different ways to live but sometimes different shouldn’t have a platform. Thumbs down.
· And just how do I know about this Honey Boo Boo exactly? Well, I’m glad you asked. Because it came on right after a show called Abby and Brittney about conjoined twins that I watched yesterday while I tried my hand at making a pear crostata. Wow. I say “wow” because those girls are amazing. I’m not exactly certain how I feel about a reality show being about them although I think maybe, since they are so unique and people wonder about them anyways, maybe a show is a great way to deal directly and get paid. Either way, my “wow” is for the girls. It is remarkable how they live and how positive they are. Their show inspired me and reminded me again that life is all about your attitude. I think the girls – and their friends and family – all rock. I like their show — it reminds me to give thanks for even my simple blessings.
