Sorry y’all but I’ve got to rant first today. I wanted to sit down and get caught up here a lot earlier but, after working most the weekend on the final, final edits to my manuscript before it gets turned into Amazon on Wednesday, I realized this morning that the changes I was making weren’t being saved!!!! I can’t even begin to tell you how my heart sunk over that. Just so much work for nothing. So I ranted and raved and screamed and shouted and then got back to it to read through it all over again. Sometimes, that’s just how it goes. I can’t turn it in without trying to do my very best with it.
On the plus side of things, it’s a beautiful day out and we have it off! That really is a fabulous thing. And my family is headed over for dinner tonight. My menu is:
Cracked crab — courtesy of my nephew Tyler catching them yesterday!
Paula Deen’s Tomato Pie — super easy and one of my favorite ways to use up tomatoes
Cucumber Salad — especially for my dad
Sausage and onion kebabs
Hawaiian couscous salad
And for dessert mom is making a blackberry pie and I am trying out almond/pear crostatas.
It seems like a fitting end to a very nice, relaxed weekend.
Yesterday we had a blast out wine tasting with Jeff and Tina. We first hit one of their favorites — JM Cellars — which we really like as well. The winery is very pretty. They have a fresh white called Bramble Bump White that both Glen and I are big on and a red called Longevity that is expensive but really yummy.
From there we headed to the Chateau Ste. Michele which was hosting an Art, Wine and Jazz event for the day that was so much fun. It helped that the weather was perfect. There was a jazz band playing some of our favorites and we strolled the grounds shopping the art vendors. I landed a concrete leaf for my yard (currently in my living room ) and Tina got a cool bird painting. I really wanted one of these super cool mosaic mirrors but I resisted.
We caught lunch at Purple and finished our wine tasting at Brian Carter Cellars where Jeff and Tina treated to the tasting. Despite the perfect weather, none of the wineries were too busy which made it even more fun. That was about the only planned thing we did all weekend and it was just right. We got home and I took a long nap — darn that wine!
I guess I’m ready to head back to work tomorrow — a bit reluctantly. It’s still nice out and now that I’m finally rested up, well, I’m ready to roll!
Oh and one more bonus photo tonight. This is Tina’s “art studio” where she is busy painting the tugboat for the cover of my book! So, so, so nice of her!
