whew, it’s been a week

Well summer is going out on a big note with a week packed full of loads to do. At work and at home — things have been hopping!  Here’s some of the high notes.

First of all, let me just say we’ve been scoring on some really wonderful free food! It started with one of my sisters loading us up with fabulous fresh produce from their garden over in eastern Washington. We got potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, beets, carrots, fennel and onions! Then, the other sis gave me a nice piece of her own smoked salmon that is fabulous. And topping it off, Glen’s cousin Alan, who lives nearby was out crabbing and very generously dropped off two fresh crab! Oh yea — that is all the best kind of eating. Local, organic and super, duper fresh!

Monday night it was a meeting of the HHC which is my fun little group of women who like a monthly martini or lovely glass of wine. We invent new sayings each meeting, new meeting rules and day dream on what we’ll do when we hit it big. All the best stuff!

This week at work we opened our brand new Energy Control Dispatch Center (ECDC)! This was a big deal for us since we had long outgrown the old one and this features all the latest and greatest for helping to keep the power on. It’s pretty dang impressive and we had a big turnout for both the ribbon-cutting and the open house later in the afternoon. My group was responsible for the event and handling the press and, like usual, they knocked it out of the park! I had so many nice comments from our Board, leadership team and guests about their good work that I’m still beaming with pride. Very cool.

That evening, mom and dad had us girls and husbands over for a lip-smacking, absolutely wonderful, end-of-summer dinner! Wowzaa was it good. Mom wore herself out making it and we really enjoyed it. She had salmon, bruschetta, corn on the cob, watermelon, coleslaw and homemade plum/peach pie for dessert. And we washed it all down with some yummy delish French champagne that we used to toast all sorts of special things. Loved the time together with my fam.

And speaking of good food, some of us got out for a walk at lunch this week and tried out the gyros at a local stand. We all gave them thumbs up while we sat and listened to the last concert of live music being offered for the season near where we work. dang! We just discovered it and it was loads of fun. Next year a weekly concert lunch outing goes on the calendar for sure. We really enjoyed it.

After work that night, I jetted off to get my copper stripes put back in my hair and then headed straight to art class at my sisters with Tea and Brie and Tina and her stepdaughter, Lauren — who turned out to be quite the artist! It was another great class by Jen. This time we painted flowers by mixing our paint right on the canvas and not drawing our painting out first. I enjoyed it a lot. I really like taking time to be creative and especially love it with my bestees.

Which brings us finally to today. Let’s see what happened today? Oh yea, I got a cordisone shot in my hand again which hurt like a mother and one of our work field teams flipped one of our trailers over on I-5 in the afternoon dumping a backhoe across all lanes and backing up traffic real good! Oh yea, it’s been a week, quite a week.

Oh and one more GIANT, JUMBO thing for this week — I send my manuscript off to Amazon.com tomorrow!!! Scared, nervous and excited! The final process to becoming an actual book has begun!
