mr. and mrs. brockett

Oh my gosh, so much to tell you all about the beautiful wedding we were guests at yesterday!

This was Nicole Brovald and Adam Brockett’s — now Mr. and Mrs. Brockett! — big day. Nicole is the daughter of our good friend’s Scott and Cindy. Scott and Glen are in the band, Heart of Gold together and as Glen often says with affection, “his brother from another mother.” Cindy was one of my bestees before we lost her last year to breast cancer but she is still one of my favorite people to talk to :) and she was all around us at this big event for her adored daughter.

Every happy wedding features a happy bride but I’m not sure I’ve seen a more glowing bride than Nicole. She was stunning in her beautiful dress  but the real beauty was from the constant smile on her glowing face. Even if she hadn’t said how she felt about her special guy you would have been able to tell just from her happy smile.  Loved it! And Adam returned the look with his clear love for his wonderful bride. The whole thing was sooooo nice!

While the morning started out overcast, by the time of the wedding the sun was out and the day was perfect — not cool or hot — just exactly right. The ceremony was held in a very pretty church where her parents also got married and then we moved to a local center for the reception. Nicole actually got on the front page of our little local paper last year because she camped out one night to be sure she was able to reserve the center for her big day. There is loads of competition for the popular spot and they only let you reserve one year ahead. She was right to spend the night — the location added to the magic of the day! It has a large deck and the sunshine came through the big picture windows to make everything even more lovely.

While everyone arrived at the hall from the church, there was a nice cocktail hour with pass around appetizers and wines and beers. Then we were seated at a table with our best friends and treated to a really nice chicken dinner. I loved the salad served which had shrimp on it but, even more special, very pretty edible flower petals. For dessert, instead of cake they had yummy cupcakes!

Their colors were white and navy with silvers and blues. The bridesmaids all had super cute navy dresses and the grooms men and groom were in dapper silver gray. All of the tables had simple, beautiful white hydrangeas which I loved, with silver chargers at each setting. Her mother loved Glassy Baby candle holders — and part of the funds go toward supporting cancer fighting causes — and beautiful Glassy Baby’s were featured at both the wedding and the reception. Nicole is big time clever with crafting and here’s some real proof. I loved how she had these simple white pom pom’s down the aisle at the wedding. They were beautiful puffs of white flowers with navy ribbons. Except that they weren’t flowers. They were actually hundreds of coffee filters! If I didn’t stop for a minute and feel them for myself I never would have believed it. They were absolutely beautiful and made painstakingly by Nicole and her friends. Very nice touch and the white hydrangeas on the table helped to repeat the “pom pom” feel.

We had such a good time! I always love spending time with our friends of course, but I loved getting to catch up with Cindy’s family too and see other important people to us that we don’t get to visit with very often. Nicole and Adam are surrounded by lovely friends and families that love them and support them which is a great way to start a life together.

For a variety of reasons, we didn’t get very many pictures of the bride and groom or ones that were very good is actually the case so I’ve “borrowed” a couple from Nicole’s FB page to share here.  I got loads and loads though of some of the rest of all of us who were there and will put them in the next post.

Meanwhile though, huge huge best wishes to the glowing, beautiful newlyweds, Adam and Nicole! We wish you a lifetime full of love and adventures together.
